Dear Friend,
As we enter our 14th year of service, the American Meditation
Institute needs your support to help reach our goal of raising
$36,000 so that we can keep the important teaching of Yoga Science
accessible to every individual and medical professional eager to
learn.
This past year has marked significant milestones for the
American Meditation Institute, enabling us to expand the teaching
of Yoga Science and reaching more students than ever.
-
AMI's
First Annual Mind-Body Medicine Health Care
Practitioners Retreat was held in November, 2009, at the
Cranwell Resort in Lenox, Massachusetts.
-
The
Computer Distance Learning initiative was launched in
January, 2010, enabling people around the world to
participate in AMI's Gita classes online. Thus
far, students from as far away as India, California,
Colorado, North Carolina and Georgia have attended via
computer.
-
In
April, 2010, AMI hosted a standing-room-only
lecture given by Dr. Bernie Siegel, renowned author,
surgeon and pioneer of mind-body medicine.
-
The
2nd Annual Health Care Practitioners Retreat will be
held in November 2010, again at the Cranwell Resort. Dr.
Bernie Siegel will join the faculty this year lecturing
on "Healing a Life vs. Curing a Disease", a
perfect complement to The Heart and Science of Yoga
curriculum.
|
We could not have
reached these milestones without your ongoing commitment. Since
1996, AMI has offered instruction to nearly 3,000 students
in all aspects of Yoga Science as holistic mind-body medicine. As
a non-profit educational organization, AMI is not
financially self-sustaining. AMI has no salaried staff
members, and neither Leonard nor Jenness receive any financial
remuneration for any of their work or teaching, yet, our combined
income from tuition and membership still falls far short of the
necessary operating expenses to adequately serve our students.
Your financial support now will make it possible to continue
offering all AMI classes, events and the bi-monthly
publication of Transformation--Journal of Mind-Body Medicine.
Leonard and Jenness have a unique and highly practical
understanding of Yoga's timeless traditions and have crafted a
valuable program for implementing the principles of Yoga Science
in everyday life. Their vision of building a spiritual community
based on Yoga Science has become a vibrant, living reality. Your
financial support for 2010-2011 is needed to ensure that this
sacred, practical and holistic teaching will continue to grow and
remain accessible for all interested individuals.
Right
now your financial support is crucial to the continuation of
these regular mind-body medicine classes and activities:

WHAT
IS THE ANNUAL GIVING FUND AND WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO? |
The
annual campaign is the major fundraiser for The American Meditation
Institute. The goal is to raise or have pledged $36,000 by December
31, 2010. Remember, your gift is 100 per-cent tax deductible. All
contributions go directly into the development of new meditation and
yoga programs and the associated operating expenses to bring the
benefits of mind-body medicine to more people.
|
WHY SUPPORT AMI? |
Your
donation helps to keep classes, workshops, retreats and the AMI
speaker's bureau available, accessible and affordable. Your
donation keeps our 6,000 year-old tradition of Yoga Science flourishing in
the world. |
HOW
CAN I MAKE MY GIFT TO THE ANNUAL FUND? |
You
can make an on-going pledge monthly, quarterly, annually or as a
one time gift. If you have any questions, call Elaine at 518.674.8714
or Toll-Free 800.234.5115.
|
HOW
CAN I MAKE MY DONATION GROW? |
Check
with your employer. Many companies will provide matching funds for
their employees.
One final thought: forward or print this letter and pass it
on to friends and family who support charitable giving. Every donation
counts. Imagine the kind of world we'd live in if everyone were
meditating every day. |
PLEASE
NOTE: AMI maintains NO paid clerical or administrative
staff, and neither Leonard nor Jenness receive any financial compensation
for teaching. All revenues, including gifts, are used exclusively to
provide other operational services and to maintain the AMI Home
Center for classes, retreats, workshops and counseling.
